The Pont de pierre is a bridge in Bordeaux, connecting the left bank of the Garonne River cours Victor Hugo to the right bank Avenue Thiers. The Pont de pierre was planned and designed during the First French Empire, under the orders of Napoleon I. On the left the Basilica of St. Michael or Basilique Saint-Michel, a Flamboyant Gothic church built between the end of 14th century and the 16th century at the heart of the ancient quarter of Saint-Michel and listed in the Inventory of Historic Monuments since 1846, minor basilica since 1903, and world heritage site since 1998. |
