The Sri Dalada Maligawa, also known as the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is believed to house the tooth relic of the Lord Buddha, which is considered a powerful and sacred object in Buddhism. The temple is an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple complex is made up of several buildings and shrines, including the main shrine where the tooth relic is kept, as well as the Pattirippuwa (Octagon) which is a beautiful two-storied building with intricate carvings and paintings. The temple also features beautiful gardens and a large pond called the Kandy Lake . The temple complex is surrounded by a high walls and guarded by the traditional Diya Kepeema (guard stone) which is considered as the symbol of the Sinhalese kings.
