This aircraft, Spitfire W3644, is in fact a war memorial replica. Installed at Fairhaven lake, Lytham, in August 2012. I have removed the stand and cables tethering it, to give the impression it is actually flying. The pilot and aircraft, were lost over the Devon coast in 1941, after escorting bombers in the second world war. The original aircraft was payed for by the people of Lytham and surrounding area.
