| View to the war damaged Darul Aman Palace from Tajbeg palace. In times gone by a cable lift connected the two palaces and Queen Soriya would be transported from her Tajbeg home to the King`s palace in the distance.
Once the home of the Communist president killed in his bed by the invading Soviets, Tajbeg Palace became the HQ for the Soviet 40th Army. Following their withdrawal became a building of significance used by following leaders of the Mujaheddin Taleban and now a post of the Afghan Army. Once where the queen waved through the middle window on the upper floor Taleban would behead....a place that is truly unique. |
