Seated warrior in the Altemps Palace National Roman Museum in Rome Italy. The seated warrior, traditionally a pendant to the statue of Ludovisi Ares of Pentelic marble body and Parian marble head is a Roman copy after an Hellenistic original. Slightly restored, the head is antique type of the Skopas Meleager but does not belong to the body.. Located near Piazza Navona the Altemps Palace is one of the most interesting examples of Renaissance architecture in Rome. Erected during the fifteenth century by the Riario family and refurbished a century later under the orders of Cardinal Marco Sittico Altemps, Palazzo Altemps since 1997 it is one of the four seats of the National Roman Museum. The Palazzo Altemps houses an important collection of Greek and Roman sculpture that belonged to several families of the Roman nobility between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
