Sparkling sage, or brilliant sage (Latin Salvia splendens) is a plant species from the genus Sage of the family of Clear—cut. The area is the tropics of Brazil. The species prefers sunny places, does not tolerate cold weather. As an ornamental plant, it is grown in the tropical belt and greenhouses. In the colder zone, plants can be grown as an annual. In addition, the species is used in medicine and cooking. The plants are perennial semi—shrubs, about a meter high, the leaves are opposite paired, in the form of an ellipse, about 7 by 5 cm. The flowers are bright red or purple, sometimes with a purple tinge, 2-6 in each inflorescence. As in most types of sage, the leaves and flowers contain psychotropic substances that calm the nervous system, but, contrary to popular belief, their effect is relatively weak.
