The Saschiz fortress from the hill 2km away from village started as a fortified Saxon peasant fortress in the 14th century. Its construction began in 1347. As is the case with this type of fortifications, similar to RÃÂ¢ÃÅ¸nov fortress, it does not follow the patterns of architecture characteristic of the 14th century, when it was built. Moreover, it is not characteristic of the Saxon way of building fortresses in this region, most of them being built around the village church.
