Plant roots grow into rocks by exploiting natural fractures, cracks, and weak zones, where they expand with hydraulic pressure and physical force to penetrate deeper. As these roots grow, they secrete chemicals and utilize the pressure from cellular expansion to widen these fissures, eventually anchoring themselves to the rock and drawing out moisture and dissolved nutrients from the fractured rock structure.
