Cartagena ââ¬â the city in Spain, in autonomous community Murcia. The name happens from the ancient city of Carthage (Cartagena was founded by Carthaginians, Romans called it New Carthage). The ancient Roman theater strikes with good safety and the impressive sizes ââ¬â on tribunes with height about the five-floor building once was located 14 thousand audience. But even more surprising is that fact that this theater was found quite recently and just until recently generations and generations of people went on the center of Cartagena, without suspecting about existence under feet of so impressive ancient construction. The theater was found in 1988 during archaeological raskopkok on ruins of the Kartakhensky cathedral of Santa-Maria-la-Vyekha destroyed in the Spanish civil war in 1939. It became clear that the Christian temple is built in the top part of theater, and at construction materials from an antique structure were used. Archeological excavations and restoration were carried out in 1988-2003.
