Mona Lisa or Mona Lisa (Italian: Monna Lisa or Mona Lisa or La Gioconda) is a painting by the Italian Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci, whose creation is dated to approximately 1503-1505.The portrait shows Lisa Gherardini, wife of Florentine merchant Francesco di Bartolomeo di Zanobi del Giocondo, dressed in contemporary Florentine fashion, against a hilly landscape. When looking at the painting, the attention is primarily drawn to Mona Lisa's legendary "mysterious smile" and her piercing gaze, with which she seems to be really looking out of the painting. It is one of the most famous works of art in the history of visual arts.
