This place is the official building of the Taipei Criminal Office. It is one of the prison buildings during the Qing Dynasty. It once detained anti-Japanese people and political victims in the 1950s. It is an important site for historical events in Taiwan's prison administration. In March 2013, civil society groups launched discussions on cultural assets and the protection of old trees. In March 1998, the Taipei City Cultural Affairs Bureau designated the wall next to the Telecommunications Bureau on Jinshan South Road in the north as a municipal historic site, the Taipei Prison Wall Remains, and then again registered the south prison wall as a city-designated monument. The monuments, more than 20 Japanese-style official buildings and bathhouses are historical buildings. There are about dozens of protected trees such as banyan trees, mango trees, toon trees, and camphor trees in the area, which are the beginning of the new life of the old houses.
