| Maviddapuram, Sri Lanka - February 19, 2017: The remains of the ornate sculpted gopuram pagoda at the historic Maviddapuram Kandaswamy Temple in the Jaffna Peninsula, Sri Lanka. It is believed a Hindu temple of sorts has existed at the site for almost 5,000 years. The present structure which contains a 108 foot tall tower and dated from the 17th century was destroyed during the Sri Lankan civil war with some restoration work having taken place recently. |
