Ticha Dam is located in northeastern Bulgaria, about ten kilometers from the town of Veliki Preslav, Shumen region. It was built along the Golyama Kamchia River and is also fed by the Eleshnitsa River. It occupies the seventh place in the ranking of the largest dams in Bulgaria, after Mandra, Iskar, Studen Kladenets, Zhrebchevo, Ogosta and Batak. It was built on the lands of the villages of Vinitsa and Staroselka, whose inhabitants were evicted from there in 1977.
