The Purple Swamphen is a large rail. They are found around freshwater swamps, streams and marshes. For such a bulky bird, the Swamphen is an accomplished flier and will readily take to the air to escape danger. This one was spotted in the lake in Lal-bagh park in Bangalore, India. |
