| Aunt Orlene Hawks Puckett Cabin on Groundhog Mountain was the home of an area midwife who delivered over 1,000 babies. Tragically, all of her own children were stillborn or did not survive infancy. She was well known throughout the mountains of Southern Virginia and served as a midwife until her death in 1939 at the age of 102. |
