| Proesels Castel, South Tyrol, Alto Adige, Italy, Europe. Proesels Castle (Presule) was built around 1200 by the Counts von Voels, aristocratic servants of the Bishops of Bressanone. It stands on a beautiful land just before Fie allo Sciliar, in the village of Presule. The medieval building was first mentioned in an official document in 1279 as Castrum Presile. The castle took on its current form in the 16th century. Leonhard of Fie, Captain of Tyrol and Burgrave of Castel Tirolo, had it transformed into a splendid Renaissance residence. |
