Bonalu is a Hindu festival of the Goddess of power, Mahakali, celebrated in Hyderabad, Secunderabad and parts of Telangana and Rayalaseema in India during Ashada masam (July/August). Potharaju, the brother of Goddess dances to resounding drums, before the Palaharam Bandi, the procession. considered the initiator of the festivities and the protector of the community.
