A popliteal cyst, also known as a Baker's cyst, is a fluid-filled swelling that develops in the popliteal fossa, the hollow space at the back of the knee joint. It's typically caused by an underlying condition that leads to increased production of synovial fluid, which lubricates the knee joint. This excess fluid can accumulate and form a cyst.
