Television and stage actress and comedian Pat Carroll extends a warm smile at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. in 1977. Carroll was a fixture on tv in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, appearing as a regular or semi-regular on shows such as `Make Room for Daddy,` and `Caesar`s Hour` a comedy sketch and variety show, for which she won a Primetime Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in 1956. She was also known as the voice for `Ursula` in `The Little Mermaid` animated feature film. Her quick wit and bubbly personality served her well as a frequent game show panelist. Carroll won a Grammy Award and both a Drama Desk and Outer Circle Critics Award for her title role in the 1980 stage production, `Gertrude Stein, Gertrude Stein, Gertrude Stein.` She had also been nominated for a Tony some years earlier, in `Catch a Star,` in 1955. Carroll died at her home in Cape Cod, Massachusetts on July 30, 2022, from pneumonia at the age of 95. A little known fact is she was cast as the voice of `Jane Jetson,` the wife, on the futuristic animated comedy, `The Jetsons,` in 1962. The lead character, `George Jetson,` was to have been born on July 31, 2022. But after the first episode, Carroll was fired because there was a sponsor conflict with another of her commitments, with Danny Thomas` show. Ironically, her own real life death occurred the day prior to George Jetson's 'birth', July 30, 2022.
