The Beijing Imperial Palace is a royal palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties in China. It was formerly known as the Forbidden City. It is known as the head of the world`s five largest palaces. It is located in the center of Beijing`s central axis and is the essence of ancient Chinese palace architecture. It is one of the largest and most complete preserved wooden structures in the world. The buildings in the Forbidden City are divided into two parts: the Outer Court and the Inner Court. The center of the Outer Court is Taihe Temple, Zhonghe Temple, and Baohe Temple. They are collectively called the three main halls. They are the places where the country holds a ceremony. The center of Neiting is the Qing Palace, Jiaotai Palace, and Kunning Palace. They are collectively known as the Housangong. They are the palaces where the emperor and empress live.
