Constructed in 1915 for the Panama Pacific Exposition held in San Francisco,to celebrate the opening of the Panama Canal, many actually saw it as the rebirth of San Francisco itself after the earthquake and fire of 1906. Since the buildings were intended to be for just the exhibitions only, they were not built to last. Because this Palace was so loved by everyone,it was saved with the aid of Phoebe Hearst. Finally,in 1969,the structure had to be torn down, down to the steel structures, and then rebuilt with more durable materials and construction. The reconstituted Palace is just as beloved as the original,by locals and tourists alike,as well as all kinds of local wildlife. It is so well loved, young couples come here just to have their wedding pictures taken. As seen 26 March 2018.
