| This is the padded cell within the Old Melbourne jail which was operational from 1842 until its closure in 1929. The gaol was the scene of 133 hangings including Australiaââ¬â¢s most infamous citizen, the bushranger Ned Kelly. It was again used during WWII to house American AWL soldiers. |
