| It is located on the eastern half of the Île de la Cité in the fourth arrondissement of Paris. Its western facade dominates the square of Notre-Dame - Place Jean-Paul II. In 1163 the laying of the foundation stone by Pope Alexander III then fled to Sens, in the presence of King Louis VII. Most of the work will be done under the direction of Bishop Maurice de Sully (1160-1197) and his successor Odo of Sully (1197-1208) |
