Deadvlei Dead Vlei or Dooie Vlei` is a white clay pan abd a famous landmark in Namib-Naukluft Park desert in Namibia. The scenery formed when the Tsauchab river flooded the pan, creating ponds where camel thorn accacia trees flourished. The ephemeral river then changed its course, leaving the pan dry and causing the trees to die. The sun has darkened their trunks and the dryness perserved them, generating a surreal scenery. |
