The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima in KrzeptÃÂ³wki in Zakopane is the most important center of the cult of Lady Fatima and one of the oldest after Turza ÃÅ¡lÃâ¦ska Fatima sanctuary in Poland. It is located about 2.5 km south-west of the center of Zakopane, at KrzeptÃÂ³wki Street. It was built as a thanksgiving for saving the life of Pope John Paul II after the attack on May 13, 1981. The main object in the sanctuary complex in KrzeptÃÂ³wki is the church of Our Lady of Fatima. A bell donated by John Paul II was hung at the top of the belfry. A rosary donated by the Pope and a photo of the Holy Father are embedded in the foundations of the church.
