Mandelas Gold is a rare yellow form of the well-known crane flower, Strelitzia reginae. It can be seen growing at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden in South Africa. In 1996 South Africas National Botanical Institute was granted permission to re-name it in honour of Nelson Mandela. This spectacular cultivar has flaring, yellow sepals and blue petals reminiscent of a crested tropical bird. |
