On the site there are remains of pre-Hispanic constructions of ceremonial and military nature erected by some local group before 1476, when it was conquered by the Mexicas.
These constructions stand out as strategic surveillance and control posts, since they are located in such a way that the Malinalco Valley can be clearly observed from them.
In this set of vestiges highlights the so-called Cuauhcalli or `Casa del Sol`, the main building of this architectural complex. It is a magnificent work of art carved in the same mountain, built at the beginning of the 16th century during the government of Huey Tlatoani mexica Ahuizotl.
