The Riviera Line between the city of Exeter, towns of Dawlish, Teignmouth and the ` English Riviera resorts of Torbay in Devon. The track is shared with the Exeter to Plymouth line along the sea wall. A footpath runs alongside the railway and is part of the South West Coast Path This section of railway was opened on 30 May 1846 and was built to the principle design of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, it follows tidal waters for about 13 miles, 4 of which are open sea`s. The sea wall has been prone to damage during stormy weather , in February 2014, 40 metres of the wall and ballast was severely damaged and it re-opened after several millions of pounds were spent, on April 4th.
