| Angelo Piazza, a native of Ciociaria, of Italian origins, was the model for the famous statue of Anteros in the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain in Piccadilly Circus, London. He was the apprentice and assistant to the sculptor Alfred Gilbert and posed for the statue at the age of 15. London, the capital of England and the United Kingdom, is a highly contemporary city with a history dating back to ancient Rome. In its center stand the imposing Houses of Parliament, the iconic clock tower known as Big Ben, and Westminster Abbey, where the coronations of British monarchs take place. Across the Thames, the London Eye offers spectacular views of the South Bank cultural district and the entire city. |
