Actress, comedienne, writer, producer, singer, and monologist Lily Tomlin flashes a smile for fans after performing in her one-woman comedy Broadway production, `Appearing Nitely,` in New York City in 1977. Tomlin has had a prodigiously productive career which exploded when she joined the cast of the NBC TV wacky sketch comedy hit, `Rowan and Martin`s Laugh-In,` beginning in 1969. In her four years she created memorable, ingenious and quirky characters, such as `Ernestine,` `Edith Ann,` and `Judith Beasley.` Much of her ensuing work was done in collaboration with writer and wife, Jane Wagner. Tomlin was designated a Kennedy Center Honoree, and won 6 Primetime Emmys and 1 Daytime Emmy. She also collected 2 Tonys, a Grammy and a SAG Lifetime Achievement Award.
