The Lemur is a member of the strepsirrhine primate family. The animal is endemic to the island of Madagascar. Ranging in size from 30 g (1. 1 oz) to 9 kg (20 lb), lemurs share many common, basal primate traits. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) considers lemurs to be the world's most endangered mammals, noting thatââ¬âas of 2013ââ¬âup to 90% of all lemur species face extinction within the next 20 to 25 years.
