The Lemur is a member of the strepsirrhine primate family. The animal is endemic to the island of Madagascar. Ranging in size from 30 g (1. 1 oz) to 9 kg (20 lb), lemurs share many common, basal primate traits. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) considers lemurs to be the world's most endangered mammals, noting that—as of 2013—up to 90% of all lemur species face extinction within the next 20 to 25 years. The picture of this animal was taken at the Bird and Game Park Irgenoed in the town of Ortenburg, Bavaria, not far from the city of Passau.
