| Colorado U.S. Senator Gary Hart visits the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion Jerusalem campus in July, 1986. At this time, a thoughtful, liberal Democrat was the favorite to win his party`s presidential nomination for president in 1988. His hopes subsequently went up in smoke with a sexual infidelity scandal, and he left politics shortly thereafter. He is accompanied by his wife, Lee Ludwig Hart and Hebrew Union College President Rabbi Dr. Alfred Gottschalk. She died on April 9, 2021 at a hospital in Lakewood, Colorado after a brief illness at the age of 85. The couple was married for over 60years. |
