Laweyan Mosque was founded in 1546, during the Pajang Kingdom long before the founding of Surakarta (1745 AD). This kingdom was the forerunner of the Mataram sultanate which later split into Surakarta and Ngayogyakarta Sunanate. It was founded during the reign of Sultan Hadiwijaya in the Kingdom of Pajang, long before the Great Mosque of Solo. Amazingly, the Laweyan Mosque building is still standing strong, even some of the mosque ornaments are still well preserved. In addition, there are also drums and drums that are hundreds of years old. The rest of the old building are the 12 main pillars of the mosque made of teak wood.
