| Autosomal-dominant polycystic kidney disease, or ADPKD, is a disorder passed down through families in which many cysts form in the kidneys, causing them to become enlarged. It is characterized by the proliferation of cysts that eventually debilitate the kidneys, causing kidney failure in half of all patients by the time they reach age 50. |
