Kamchia is a river located in Northeastern Bulgaria, on the territory of the municipalities of Dalgopol, Dolni Chiflik and Avren, Varna Region. It flows into the Black Sea. It covers the main part of the most extensive sand dunes on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The Kamchia River is rain-snow fed, with the maximum runoff in February and March, and the minimum in October. About 25 representatives of the ichthofauna included in the Red Book of Bulgaria are found in the river. The mouth is part of the Kamchia Reserve. Near the mouth is a protected area "Kamchiyski Pyasatsi".
