The Japanese Lantern – Abutilon megapotamicum is a shrub that belongs to the Malvaceae family, native to Brazil Rio Grande do Sul, perennial, vigorous, fast-growing, 2 to 3 meters tall. Fibrous branches, long and reclined. Cordiform, membranous leaves with serrated edges, 4 to 7 cm long. The variegated form of green leaves with yellow spots occurs. Solitary flowers, axillary, long-pedunculated, with yellow petals and red chalice, pendant, lantern or bell-shaped. They appear almost all year round, with more intensity in spring.
