The islands of the Seychelles can be grouped into five major groups; Amir Andes, Alphonse, the Farquhar and the Aldabra Group and the granite islands. The latter - 40 in number - are the only oceanic islands, which have been formed from continental mass worldwide! All other isolated ocean islands consist of coral or volcanic rock and have grown out of the sea!
