| Intore dancers at the Kwita Izina ceremony, Kinigi, Rwanda, 5th June 2010. Music and dance are an integral part of Rwandan ceremonies, festivals, social gatherings and storytelling. The most famous traditional dance is known as the Intore, or dance of heroes, performed by men. Intore dance involves elaborate head gear and spears. In the background there will be a choir like group singing along. As the story progresses the Intore dance becomes more vigorous and expressive. |
