Pictured is an information plaque on a building in Milan, Italy which was used as an American Red Cross Hospital. In 1918, Ernest Hemingway was cared for in this building after being injured by shell splinters and machine gun bullets in World War I. His injuries forced him to accept transfer to this hospital in the center of Milan where he spent three months recovering.
