Students are going to village school, its a far more distance from their locality. Amidst all this lies the small village called Banikhalli, Amlamethi where the Sunderban Shishu Niketan Litaracy project is located. It is one of five or six small villages on Satjalia Island, Goshaba Block, There are approximately 350 families in this village - most of whom are small landowners with their own mud and thatch homesteads, fishponds , farmland and a few livestock. They are subsistence farmers and fisher folk with very strong family values, self-respect and pride. The families are self sufficient for food and daily needs. There are 3 primary schools and one middle school/high school in nearby villages some are 40 minits to 1 hour walking distance away.
