The Shah Mosque, built in south side of Naghsh-e Jahan Square during the Safavid period, ordered by the first Shah Abbas of Persia. Also known as Emam Mosque (named after the 1979 Islamic revolution in Iran) and Jaame Abbasi Mosque. It is an excellent example and masterpiece of Persian Architecture of Islamic era architecture of Iran. The distinct feature of any mosque is the minaret, and the Masjed-e Shah has four. Along with the Naghsh-e Jahan Square, it belongs to UNESCO World Heritage Site. |
