Pictured is an image of Saint Joseph holding the infant Jesus engraved on black granite in front of the historic Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Davis, Texas. The first building was erected in 1876. Many parishes, including those in Alpine and Marfa, were created from this Parish. A Texas Historical Commission marker was erected in 1999. Joseph was married to Mary, mother of Jesus and was the guardian or foster father of Jesus. The image in this picture is a copy of the famous painting by Guido Reni in 1635 of Saint Joseph with the Infant Jesus.
