| This is a picture of the historic Illinois Stzte Capitol Building located in Springfield. Illinois in Sangamon County. This Capitol building is an example of Renaissance Revival architecture, it was designed by Alfred H. Piquenard, it was built in 1868. This is the sixth Illinois Capitol building, it is the third tallest state Capitol building in the U.S.. The buildings foot print is in the shape of a Greek cross with four equal wings. This building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 21, 1985. This picture was taken on June 14, 2020. |
