| Impatiens glandulifera, or Himalayan balsam, is used in traditional medicine for its cooling and diuretic properties, and its leaves are applied to burns. A decoction of its roots or leaves treats joint pain, anxiety, and is a reported antidote for snakebites. The seeds can be chewed or made into oil for medicinal tonic and anti-anxiety purposes, and the seeds also provide a nut-flavored edible oil. The flowers are used in Bach flower remedies for conditions like impatience and are also edible, though they should be consumed with caution due to their calcium oxalate content. |
