| Jesus heals a man who had been paralyzed for 38 years at the Pool of Bethesda in Jerusalem. Jesus, upon encountering the man, asks him if he wants to be healed. The man explains his inability to access the pool when the water is stirred, and Jesus commands him to "Get up! Pick up your mat and walk". The man is immediately healed and able to walk, carrying his mat, which was considered work on the Sabbath. This act of healing on the Sabbath leads to conflict with some Jewish leaders who believed it violated the Sabbath laws |
