The Giant's Causeway is an area of approximately 38000 columns, the result of acient volcanic activity 60 million years ago. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986, due to its outstanding geology. Most of the columns are hexagonal, although there are also some with 4, 5, 7 and even 8 sides. The tallest are about 12 meters high. |
