| Daun is a small town in the Eifel. The volcanic area has several craters with caldera lakes called Maar. Gemündener Maar is the closest to town of the three lakes called Dauner Maare. It is the most isolated from traffic, too. There is a swimming area with the rest kept as nature reserve. In winter it is a very silent place where the snow can stay rather long in the area where no sun reaches into the crater. |
