The tarn is covered with ice until late summer and in some years throughout the year. It has an area of 1.1395 ha and is 208 m long and 78 m wide. Reaches a depth of 10.8 m and a volume of 43,388 m³. It lies at an altitude of 2040 m. In the background is a Polish ridge, Poľský hrebeň. The Polish ridge is a saddle in the main ridge of the High Tatras. It lies at an altitude of 2200 m.
