“Goto” is one of the many adaptations of congee or better known as “lugaw”, it is one of the most favourite comfort foods and a popular street food because it can easily satisfy hunger. The origin of the dish is not really known, but it is presumed that it was served during times of famine. It is a creative and affordable way to stretch the rice supply so more people could be fed. Goto is a type of rice porridge that is traditionally prepared with innards of either pig or cow, sometimes both cow tripe and pig intestine are used.
