| A pair of Pied Avocets or in latin Recurvirostra avosetta is captured in flight, skimming low over the choppy, sunlit water of a marsh or lagoon within the Guadalquivir Donana National Park area. The birds exhibit their striking, unmistakable bold black and white plumage, which is particularly visible on the wings and back during flight. Their slender, distinctly up-curved black bills and long blue-grey legs - trailing behind - are characteristic features, used to sweep for invertebrates in the shallow, brackish water below. |
